Althea Racing Team

Althea Racing has its head office at the parent company Althea SpA in Civita Castellana. Its racing department includes a 2.000 square metres covered area, that houses not only the development and motor assembly area but also logistics, design/planning and a communications department directed by Maya Cohen. The principal attraction of the whole complex is Genesio Bevilacqua's museum, "Bikes of Legends" (www.genesiobevilacqua.it). Bevilacqua is the founder of the Althea firm and group. On show inside the museum are the best examples of race bikes from the last 40 years; in fact it has become a destination for many enthusiasts who make an "international pilgrimage" to see it.

The Althea Racing team has defined its plans for the 2011 racing season, that will see the squad committed to the World SBK, STK 1000 and Italian CIV championships. Thanks to the agreement reached with Ducati Corse in Borgo Panigale, Althea's riders in all categories will ride the 2011 version of the Ducati 1198 bike.
Once again it is Carlos Checa who will be entrusted with the task of powering the Ducati to success in the Superbike championship. The Spanish rider needs no further introduction and his experience and professionalism already helped Althea Racing to achieve great things last season. Carlos opened the 2010 season with a race win at Phillip Island, before celebrating a double race win at penultimate round Imola. Through the course of the season, he clocked up a total of eight podium finishes which helped him to finish in third position in the overall standings. Thanks to his results (and those of Haga and Fabrizio) Ducati closed the manufacturers championship in second position.

In the STK 1000 category Althea Racing recruits two Italian riders, Davide Giugliano and Lorenzo Baroni while in the Italian CIV championship it is Luca Conforti who will fly the Althea flag. These three Italian riders have a wealth of experience, built up through years of racing in national and international competition.

The logistics and the organization at headquarters is assigned to Moreno Coppola, who already boasts a remarkable experience in the technical and organizational field, matured during his many years at the top levels of Althea Racing.
